howdy.. 02 Z, upgraded to a Kenwood 2020 has performed flawlessly, changed the tweeters 2023,
now the subs are done, took to my local stereo shop and says they are both toast, probably one
went out and i didn t notice too much, car is fairly loud, and i keep the stereo positioned to the back
more than center. What can i replace the subs with ? have done some research and know it is all one unit
and the amps are attached to the subs.. not sure what my options are. Stereo shop says he can change
it up but would be $1400, don t think i need to spend that just to have a little bass.. any thoughts be
appreciated..
TIA

in my personal c5, I ran kicker 8 inch midbass speakers.
I've recommended stereo integrity, morel, kenwood, and some others. Usually speakers that can play well in doors and can handle frequencies from around 60hz to 500 or even 800 hz.
i am still struggling what i need to do, i want to put in the 8" speakers. but looking at Metra, it looks like only 6 3/4 adaptors are available..
is this true, am i missing something, if someone can enlighten me, would be appreciated.

it's true. You can build your own or you can use the metra with an 8 inch ring adapter. Good plastic ones on Amazon. You can use 6 inch speakers if you want. Most are satisfied with that. I'm the oddball that just wants that extra low end midbass from the 8.. or now 10 in my c7.

don't give up yet! Totally worth doing an 8 inch. 😃 is not s complicated as it sounds.
or at least go with a component system. It will produce better bass.
hopefully my last question to bother anyone. i appreciate ALL the advice and suggestions.
will a speaker depth of 2.44 fit in the door using the Metra adaptor ?
