Uniden R4 what the hell?
Got my uniden r4 plus whatever today, just open the box. The device and all the accessories were in like a black restaurant to go looking container 😂. Yeah I haven't had dinner yet. 😂 Anyway the contents of the box is very busy. The owner's manual is like a thick novel. I think the last time I had a radar detector is when I got my Dodge Charger 15 plus years ago. Obviously I'm going to have to dig deep to see what I'm dealing with here. I was hoping to open, mount, and hit the road. Guess I'll be in most of the evening eating and reading the manual. Any pointers anybody can give me would be deeply appreciated on the r4. Should I assume I have to do firmware updates right out the box? Or, because it's brand new, should I already have the latest greatest updates? One thing I do know from all the reviews, once over the learning curve, it should be a great device.

I have the r7. Out of the box worked just fine. Stuck it in the windshield , plugged in, and off we went. It doesn't hurt to check for the latest updates though, they are constantly refining the signatures and whatnot.

Yeah I got it pretty much figured out now. I haven't played with all the features yet. Got the latest updates, got the apps. I'm liking it so far. It's a memorial Day weekend so I'm sure they're going to be out and about. We'll see how it does in battle.
