I am in the process of installing a new audio system in my C7 .The system that i am installing will have 3 amplifiers. I am looking to replace the stock alternator with a 320amp high output alternator. My question is can replacing the alternator with a high output unit affect and of the electronics in the car? I was reading some things online that the electronics will only use the amps that is required. I do have a few other questions but i wanted to start with this one first. Any input is appreciated.
Thanks for your input. What amplifiers are you running? Below are what the manufacturer is saying you should have when running this amplifier.
Kicker WXA3600.1 180-amp alternator (at idle) o Big Three upgrade o Two 0-gauge OFC power and ground o 400 amps of fusing (200 x 2) o Second battery close to amplifier 80Ah or more and 800 CCA or more.
I have an Arc Audio Blackbird DSP amp and 2 Arc Audio Nighthawk amps. It was professionally installed and I would assume that he has a separate ground for the amps. The original Bose amps were removed and the Arc’s were installed in their location under the carpet in the rear. I have a post somewhere in the “What did you do to your C7 today” . It’s titled “Stereo Install”.
Nice clean install. Do you have any photos on the amp area with everything wired? After doing some research I think I am going to run a 0 ga ground wire from the seat belt bolt to ground distribution block and ground all the audio to that block.
