Nothing crazy, just want a small bass upgrade. What do I need to upgrade the factory rear speaker box 8-inch sub being driven by its own small amp that can be hidden. I see where one person cut some off his sub box and put the amp there.
What wiring or module would I need please?
Will a 8 inch shallow mount solo baric speaker fit in that spot?
TIA
You'll need a small sub amp (alpine ktx, audio control)... something with a high level input that can handle a factory amp. Since dynamat to cover the sub box, and a shadow mount 2 ohm woofer (pioneer, kicker cwrt82) the amp would fit near the factory amp as long as you don't have the pdr module.

I swapped the factory Bose sub for a Pioneer 2X2 driver and insulated the factory box with neoprene sound deadener. I used an ANC bypass harness on the Bose amp to reduce the strain on the amp from the counter noise signal it plays through the Bose. The bass was tighter than the Bose, but the volume was the same (factory driver is 2x2 as well).
Then I found a compact AudioControl 300wt Monoblock amp on Amazon. But it can't drive less than a 2 ohm load, so I swapped the Pioneer for a 2X4 thin mount MB Quart. That gave the AC amp a 2ohm load and GREATLY increased the output. I mounted the ACR1 bass **** under the dash right under the start button.
I also used Pioneer 3.5s in the doors and dash, along with Infinity Kappa 6.5 two ways in the rear, all running off the factory amp. I kept the Bose door woofers and dash tweeters for now.
I'm not going to win a sound off, but I have louder, tighter punchy sound with more headroom than stock, and it's all stealth.
Thanks Red88vert.
right now I am thinking kicker monoblock 500 amp 1 ohm sub with a kicker shallow mount dual 2ohm.
I am hoping it will be fine wired for high input as it should take up to 40 volts. Just gotta kill the Bose noise reduction.
