Installing Amp While doing as Little Damage as Possible
I don't like the idea of drilling holes into my Vette. What is the best way to anchor my amp while causing as little damage as possible? I am doing a very simple setup so I don't need show quality displays.

i just cut a piece of partical board 12in wide by the width of the interior in the back and covered it with black carpet. then screwed the amps to it then i velcroed it down. works great for not much cake

Do you or any body else have any instructions? I was actually thinking about putting it under or behind my seat. It is har to believe Velcro would hold. What happens in an accident?

The velcro becomes undone, and you've got a new skylight in your head.
just put board under the carpet and make a carpet sandwich. This is really the safest way to prevent it from behind a projectile... short of going THROUGH the car.

With velcro? Hard to say. Some velcro will hold like glue, so I suppose it depends on how heavy the amp is. Im sure a 5mph fender bender wouldn't displace it.. but what if you rolled the car?

Hmmm. Is the particle or MDF fastened to the chasis in any way (Glue or Velcro under the carpet)? Or are the screws from the amp through the carpet holding it in place?
Re: Installing Amp While doing as Little Damage as Possible (knesbitt)
Is it easy to lift the carpet then put it back with creating too much of a disturbance. Ie rips & tears. Also where do I get MDF and how much? Also where is best place to find ground on 99 Coupe? I am implementing amp into BLOSE system to power stealthbox.
Re: Installing Amp While doing as Little Damage as Possible (knesbitt)
it would be a good idea to use some 2 sided mounting tape between the mdf and the floor of the vehicle. then carpet over the MDF, and screw the amp through the carpet into the MDF. If this is going under the seat, that's plenty. And make sure its MDF you use, and not particle board. It's really easy to pull screws out of particle board, but MDF is stronger.
I havent pulled the carpet out of a C5, but on my 86 vette, it was really easy and didn't tear at all. consider the age of the carpet, so i wouldn't be worried.
Be careful, don't force anything.

I used 3/4" birch instead of MDF to cut down on weight and used silicone to attach the birch to the floor of the hatch. I then layed the carpet over it and mounted the amps through the carpet into the birch. :yesnod:
