Default JVC KD-SH55 info needed

Someone wants to sell me a JVC KD-SH55 for $125. Does anyone have anything to say about this head unit? It's an older model that originally retailed for over $300 yet I have seen them sold on the internet for about $150 now (but I haven't found a place that has them in stock). Anyone know if this will fit in a dash of a '94 without any cutting of the trim?

I have it's big brother the KD-SH99 in my truck and although the general idea on the forum is that JVC sucks, thier digifine line is actually pretty nice.

I'm not sure what all the 55 shares with the 99 (they look pretty much the same) but the 99 is an excellent unit for the price. There are some things about it that I like better than my alpine 7998.

I'm going to put my flame suit on now. :D

Good luck
Luke

I installed it in my friends firebird (used to be my firebird) and for low budget and limited options its not a bad piece. If you goal is sonic fidelity..........this is a puff puff pass situation. JVC is low end audio gear but still effective for limited budgets. If thats your goal then you should be ok with the piece. Has a 2v or 4v 3 preout if I remember with 45 or 50 x4 speaker outs, motorized face and a build in crappy EQ with limited features. It has independent sub woofer volume control and crossover points. All in all it will do a OK job it would for 125 I'd say offer 100 that would be a good deal considering DEALER COST was only $184, I know this because that's what I bought it for. Plus the fact that its used

Good luck

Kitt

Dude if you need a deck I will sell you my Kenwood Z828 mp3 deck out of my C5. I need to get a Alpine because I have a Alpine changer I want to put in.

The deck retailed for $699 new. I would sell it to you for $175 and it is 3 times the deck of that JVC. Let me know though I am moving tomorrow afternoon to Socal. My # is 925-989-2536 I am up in Pleasanton

I've got the KD-SH99 in my C3. I really like it, except for the brushed metal color.

Otherwise it's been great.

What are the dimensions of that deck? I am interested but I don't want to cut up the trim on the dash to put it in.
