I am replacing my clarion amp that keeps cutting the back speakers on and off at will. Everything else has been double checked and it is indeed the amp.
I don't want BLOW THE TOP OFF LOUD, and I don't want to break the bank. My current system is fairly simple: Soon to be installed-Sony CDX MP 30 head...MB quart 5"1/4's in the doors with tweeters in the panels and Clarion 6X9's out back with a sony cd changer in the cubby hole(Storage compartment whatever) which might come out(who needs a cd changer when you can fit over 125 songs on one cd?).
If you could try to squeeze a pair of 6 1/2's in the front instead of 5 1/4. With the same amount of power the 6 1/2's will sound louder then the 5 1/4's. Also look into speakers that have adjustable tweeters on them. You want to be able adjust the highs towards the passengers and yourself instead of your knee caps. As for the rear 6x9's see if you can find a pair that has the same adjustable tweeter. Also stuff some polyfill (Walmart for $2) into the speaker compartments that hold the 6x9's. Might give you a bit lower bass. I personally would also put in a self powered 10" Bazooka tube in there just for kicks. Can be removed anytime you want when you need some extra storage space.
Have we determined if these US Acoustic amps are any good. It seems to me that most people I've talked to who have them installed are having ignition noise issues with them.

I haven't heard of any more problems than any other brand out there. They're good quality, nothing top of the line... but good if you don't want to spend lots of cash on an amp.
The couple I've listened to, one was clear and the other had a small amount of noise, but I couldn't tell you if it was the amp itself or the install.
