Default Installation accessories

Installing the following:
Alpine 7998
Focal 165W
ARC 2100
ARC 2050
IDQ10

What do I need? And where is the best place to get it?

*4 ga. Amp wiring kit, (with fused distribution block) - Walwart
*RCA connectors - what brands are good? Where to get?
*Dash kit, not sure which one Metra has two? Do I have any clearance issues with the 7998.
*wiring adaptor
*antennea adaptor
*speaker wire ?ga. for components and ?ga. for sub
*stealthbox - from mike76002
*component plates - make my own or might order the nylon ones from forum member.
*Sound deadening - not sure if I want to do this, too time consuming.

So what am I missing and where can I get this stuff cheap.

That is one heck of a list of goodies you are about to install. Now is not the time to get cheap on the installation. I have recommended the $25 1000 watt wiring kit from wal-mart before. I'm sure the power and ground wire in that system is fine, but I'd be wary of the interconnect cables. IMO this is the most important part. Go to HiFi Buys and get high quality pair by a name brand (Monster). Or go to sounddomain.com, I have been happy with the lighting audio strike series, they also carry phoenix gold. The vette is tricky because of its lack of metal and high performance nature. Plus with the quality of those Focals, even the slightest noise will be reproduced.

I'd go to crutchfield for the install kit, wire harness and antenna adapter. I'm not a big fan of the metra kits, particularly the metra kit with the pocket.

I'd recommend 16 gauge for the components and 12 or 14 gauge for the sub.

Those nylon component mounting plates look pretty nice and I don't want to take away any of his business, but I'd just make my own. I used 1/4" hardboard instead of MDF. It is just as strong, yet thin enough to use your stock bolts to install and not worry about clearance issues. Cost is $1.75 for a 4'x4' sheet at HD.

Not try to go cheap now, just don't want to pay $130 for an amp wiring kit when I can get one for $25 or so and get better quality interconnects.

Don't care too much for that pocket either. What is wrong with the metra kits? Just asking, i have never seen either of them.

Nothing really wrong with the metra kits. But you do have to assemble them as they are "somewhat" universal. That pocket kit put the HU too close to the top of the opening and the CDs would slide out when you drove.

Crutchfield has a nicer kit, not sure of the brand though. Usually wal-mart will have the GM wire harness. The last one I bought came with the antenna adapter as well. I think it was $8.

Here are some pics of the hardboard for the components I was talking about:

You better take some pictures of your install. :smash: :yesnod:

Please don't buy wires from Waltmart.
Go to Ebay, look for Stinger wire for your power wires, speaker wires, RCA cables and fuse block. Here is the link from this seller which I bought all my cable from him. You just email him direct and he will combine shipping.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=32810
For RCA, get the Stinger dream series which is good enough.
You don't need any wiring adaptor since you will use RCA outputs from your HU, power using 8 ga from your fuse block, ground it to the frame where your HU at, and use a wire claim for the remote on/off.
You do need a antenna adapter
I would go 12 ga for speaker wires
I would do the sound damping for the 2 doors when you remove the panel.
It makes your car much quiet. I did a test, remove my panel, drive it one day, put on the Dynamat with the panel still off, drive it another day and wow what a quiet drive.
Good luck

You do need an antenna adaptor but don't need a wiring kit.

and use a wire claim for the remote on/off.
I don't understand the wire claim part?
I thought that the HU had a remote on/off that I hook up to the amps.

I meant the remote on/off to your HU from the factory HU.

You better put a Capacitor in there also, with the mount.
