I purchased a mast kit from Ecklers and followed the directions in the package. I used the "tool" to remove the washer but from there on I can't get the old mast out. I know that to remove the whole antenna I need to go through the wheel well but I thought I just need to change out the mast which I could do from the top. I can hear the motor working when I turn the radio on and off. BTW the radio is a new Pioneer. Any ideas are appreciated.
That was what I was afraid you-all would say, so I'll problbly take the car apart and then for get how to put it back togather......senior moment. thanks.

Re: Antenna mast '88 (L.R.Payne)
Don't feel too bad, I too have to change out my antenna on my '88 35th Anniversary Edition. What makes it even worse is that I broke it myself. I bent it while working in the hatch area. Talk about a DOH! :mad :(
I replaced my '88 mast last summer. This is really pretty eaisy job. Disconnect the electrical and ground, leave the antenia wire alone, disconnect the mounting brackets. Take the unit apart while the antenia wire is still connected to the car (this means you are working on your antenia unit under the rear of the car, you do not have to take the inner fender off) and replace the mast, then reinstall. This is maybe a 2 hr. job, but I am slow.
