Default What thickness of MDF?

What size should i use? I am going with 2 10 inch subs(probably some cheap clarions for now). The whole box is going to be 2cu feet (2x1x1). The local home depot has either 5/8 thickness or 1/2 inch thickness. I do not want to go to heavy just enough for some good bass.

A good box is always 3/4 MDF.. Might be heavy but will last and sound great..Get a sheet and start cutting.. I had built a custom box for 2 12" woofers and me and a friend to carry it I allso had 3/4" plexi on the front and sounded killer...

1/2 is chezzy but will work and be light..Carpet it and nobdy will know..I have seen some make these boxxes.. But why waste time and money if you are going to upgrade your speakers I would think you want to keep it for long time so get the best now..

But I think you know what you want allready...

If you're dividing the box in half (one compartment for each sub), for that size box 1/2" should adequate. If you're making one big box with no divider or bracing, I'd go with the 5/8".

3/4". I would not recommend anything less with that much sub.

If you have to go less, get the 5/8"... but I would use 3/4".

go to a different store and get 3/4"

do it right or don't do it at all...

also 2 cubes sounds like to much volume for a pair of 10s, did you think about specs or are you just throwing a couple speakers in a box ?

Well you can get by with 5/8" then coat the **** out of the inside with rubberized undercoating. the coating will actually strengthen the box and also still allow to flex.

10's should only need anywhere from .4 - .8 cubic feet, normally for a sealed cabinet. A ported or bandpass may require the larger volume :steering:

:iagree:

I don't care what subs you are putting in the box especially 10's.

also still allow to flex.
Exactly. Use 3/4" and brace it.
