HELP! I tried to hardwire my V1 in my '03 AE. I used the same set of directions that I got off of the Forum from a member who hardwired his '99. It worked just fine on my '00, but not on the '03. I went to the pigtail under the kick panel on the passenger side. The pigtail is suppose to have a full time HOT (Orange wire) and a Ignition On HOT (Yellow wire) and a GROUND (Black wire). The Yellow wire is suppose to be the HOT wire when the ignition is on. It isn't. I tested the circuit and the Orange is HOT, I assume that the Black is GROUND, as it is not HOT. The Yellow does not seem to be HOT at ANY time. Ignition on, off, car running, etc. I want a HOT with ignition on only wire.
Has anyone run up against this problem with a '03? Is there any way to hardwire my V1 using something in the black fuse box, as long as I am already there with my Valentine 1 wire?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I'm ready to hit the road! :nonod: :(
OK, aurik, what is the BCM, and how do I know that I am tapping into the RIGHT yellow wire? I don't want to cause a voltage drain to something that will screw things up royally! If the BCM is the silver (tin) box, that is where I found the power pigtail (on top of it) that they talk about. Where did you get the yellow wire from that you tapped into?
It is fused. I can't remember which one but it is one of the fuses down under the passenger footwell. I popped mine while I was installing. As I recall maybe #11 accesory power?
P.S. It's also in the owner's manual around the area about fuses.
