Re: Please post pics-aftermarket stereos installed in your C4s (96TorchRedCoupe)
So, here's a Clarion ADX5555 that I installed last weekend in my '92 vert. The light colors don't match the orange, but I like the overall look with the multi-colored graphics of the signal analyzer. It fits well (double-din) and it sounds better than the Blose Gold. I ran new speaker wires directly to the Blose speakers and bypassed the local amps. It took me about 8 hours for everything, including bending some straps for mounting, and running a standard GM adapter to the power plug of the under-dash receiver. I left that box in-place. UPDATE - After reading a post from Kale, I replaced the Blose speakers with JVC 4-ohm units. The Blose speakers are 1-ohm impedance and its's theoretically possible to overdrive one channel and run twice the current through the stero amp beyond it's design capability. Wal-Mart had a good size selection of JVC and Pioneer speakers. I only had to make new holes for the mounting screws. :yesnod:

mine again, it's dirty so i didn't quite finish cause I wanted a quick pic. Don't mind the cheezy 80s tune "der komissar" from after the fire playing, i was testing the rear Alpine comps for bass.

Re: Please post pics-aftermarket stereos installed in your C4s (Klamath Stoogie)
I emailed Metra asking for a 90 delco/bose gold harness adapter. They gave me the part # the same day. I think it was the 1 1/2 universal type Volvo 3 CD din pocket which was in a bag with all the bezel trim rings, I have the part #'s somewhere. I picked up from Circuit City for $15. The installer had a GM METRA21 pin adapter goes for $16.99 but he sold me a new one for $5. You also need an GM antenna adapter and extension cable.
You don't use all the pins on the adapter once you interface the CDM box under the passenger side box. This is alot of work to run a complete extension harness from the head unit to the CDM since most radio wires wont reach.
I made a [ ] shaped bracket from home depot garage door opener strap bent around the front din frame with the pocket strapped on the sides with regular installers strap from circuit city. Placed the whole assembly in and out untill it just barely fit, used computer packing foam on the bottom caverns in the black box near the drink holders. Also had to cut the black box accross the middle back.
This install was alot of work but it paid off, no skips, made the car that much fun, everybody loves playing with the Alpine w/ a cd full of 100 songs plus in the dash. I matched with SPR-175 and 135 components in the rear and front. It rocks my world just fine, still would like a sub but that will be a different story.
