My friend who has helped me with my installed posted this on sounddomain... Wondering if you guys could help a lil....
I have some questions regarding aftermarket head unit installations in late model C5/Z06 Corvettes:
1) What do you recommend for a Bose adapter? I'm going to be installing an aftermarket head unit into a friends Corvette, and he wants to keep the Bose system.
2) In a previous install, I'm having problems w/ poor radio reception. The C5/Z06 Corvettes seem to have a diversified antenna system (antenna on the front windshield and on the back glass). I used a Metra/GM harness to connect to the factory power wires, and connected the blue of the aftermarket head unit to the blue of the Metra harness. In taking apart the car, I did notice an antenna junction box located in the driver's side pillar, just behind the driver's seat. Any ideas?

All I can say is you DO NOT want to use the Bose system with an aftermarket HU. The Bose system is weak to begin with an a decent HU will only amplify (pardon the pun) the poor sound quality. For a few hundred more bucks, you might as well put in some decent speakers.

lol... yeah if you check my sig you'll see "MB Quart Q-Series 6.5" mids (4), 1" tweets (4), crossovers (4)"... I only wish these were a couple hundred bucks! lol
I dont have the stock speakers or anything from the factory system...

Good point, I didn't notice that. Q-Series are like $99 at Target, next to the Jensens, right?

Don't laugh, but I put 4 of those Jensen 6.5" 2 ways into a project Z car that I was working on. You know the ones with the blue woofer? Anyway, for $44, they were a fine little speaker. The bass response wasn't good anything below 150 Hz, but the tweets were very bright and clear. They got pretty loud from Pioneer deck power.
