When I install my single DIN HU, I want to modify the dash trim so that it looks like it was 1 din from the factory. Has anyone attempted to cut, move, and refinish this piece?
I have good friends who specialize in custom automotive parts like hoods and body kits that I'm trying to get into the vette scene to make us some parts.
we've been talking about several ideas for the c5 including a new vented hood, a front fascia similar to the tiger shark kit and some interior accents. we've been discussing mass producing a console trim piece similar to: http://www.nightmare.cc/dash.jpg
both in single and double-din configurations but theyre not sure if there's a lot of interest. I'm convinced there'll be a huge interest in custom parts. if you guys really want something made, we can complain enough to where theyll have to swich platforms to support the vette :D ive suggested things like this in the past but havent gotten much support. either way, theyll be making me some custom parts during the summer.
There is not much you can do. Your best bet is to use some fiberglass and close the 1.5 din up and then cut it out for your headunit so it looks completely one din. Or you can use your brackets for your 1 din as a frame and the fiberglass into it. About the only way to make it all blend together and look factory. We will be doing mine soon so I will post some pics.
