I don't want to put a sub box in my Camaro but I do have spots in the back for two 6 3/4"" drivers. They would be free air. Do any drivers exist that would make a decent facsimile of bass output? I'm going to put some 6 3/4" Pioneer co-ax in my door holes so I would need these small subs to handle the bass end of things. Suggestions?
My turn to help you out.. If you want some decent bass, and awesome sound... Try Adire Koda drivers... They are probably the most slammin' 6" drivers around... Put this comp set in your doors with about 150 watts per side. http://adireaudio.com/mobile_audio/c...components.htm
Also, Focal makes a 5" subwoofer called the 5ws... 2 will be about as loud as a single 8 (read: not very loud) and they are expensive and require a .3 ported enclosure.
I agree with that guy though, ditch the rear speakers. Just run a single set of nice 6.5 components. I dont think you will find a store with Kodas, your best luck is to search for "Koda review" The general consensus on the set is "OMG!"
You need a line level converter to use the stock HU... not too familiar with those, always bought a new hu.
Profile amps are kind of shady... JBL are better if you just want a cheap subwoofer amp. http://www.ikesound.com takes a long time to ship, but they have great prices on JBL. Dont expect great reliability out of a JBL, though. I think like, 10% of owners have had problems. But thats still a lot better than Profile.
The only seperates I knwo of that run at 2ohms are the Image dynamics Chamelons... Kodas are 4 ohm.
You can get just the koda mids, but youre cheating yourself out of it by not getting the whole thing. Sandt38 can hook you up with those (He's on CAF)
If I run rear fill speakers along with the front separates I will be at 2 ohms per channel provided I use 4 ohm drivers at all corners which I for sure will be.
The the subs will be a single 2 ohm load when wired in parallel so I need a good 2ohm channel of power for that. I need 3 channels of power at 2 ohms.
