Fiberglass sub enclosures
I am looking to make something very smooth and contoured in a style similar to the c-5, would love ot make it out of fiberglass if I can, but I don't know alot about how to work the stuff. Or the structural requirements of fiberglass for a sub enclosure.
Help a brother out!

Prep - 2 layers of masking tape and 1 layer of foil tape.
1 layer of fiberglass to obtain the mold. Lift out when dry (2-3 hrs. to be sure) and build up approx. 3-4 layers more inside.
Create a top. I did one with a ring to face a little forward and to give it better bass response and to keep from the basic "flat" sub box.
Make a support for your ring to hold in place under the top for fiberglassing and bondo. When done with the molding and top. Replace the mold back into the well area in the car, over lap the edges with fiberglass (one layer is fine) place the top on before dry. Carefully pull out the box when completely dry and turn upside down to finish fiberglassing around the edges, approx. 3 layers.
The bondo adds to the overall strength and allows for a smooth curved sanded finish.
The box is very strong and hits hard. The top is made of 3/4" birch wood. Again, all I have left is to carpet it. I will also mount the amp to the back wall and finish the project with a cover for it.
I cannot stress enough how important it is to mix the resin and hardner well. Scrape the sides of the bucket with a mixing stick over and over. Practice first before you start your project. It will pay off in the long run.
This box cost me $120.00 in materials. Not bad for a custom box if you like to do things yourself ;)
I have been quoted in the past for this type of set-up from $700.00 to $1,500.00
Good luck and have fun with it. I will have lots more pictures on my site in the near future.

You know, now that you have made such a killer enclosure, you have really raised the bar for me . . . I will have to do something at least as impressive, hope I am up to it!
*edit - Nevermind about the driver size question. I just read your sig.

Well.... like I said, I will post the picture of the box on Sunday when I carpet it but you all will have to wait on the rest. This has been a weekend job for me and has moved along slowly.
I am also going to add the Jl Audio remote bass **** in the ash tray of the dash. I will fiberglass a mold and flush mount it, then black vinyl it to look factory but will still be able to close the main lid to it. :)

 no hasslin.....just might stop'em to see what they got :) :D
As far as W7 vs W6, personal preference. The W7 bass is very "heavy" deep with alot of impact. Sometimes the sub is not fast enough with certain material but that is personal opinion. They are good subs.
