Default Polyfill question

My Kicker solo barics recommend filling the enclosure 50% full of polyfill. The box is just under 1ft^3, but the polyfill is sold by the pound. It says to use one pound per cubic foot.
2 Questions:
How many pounds of polyfill do I need?
Can I use something other than polyfill? Like pillow stuffing for example?

did you make your box taking into account adding the polyfill or not? or does kicker's box size recommendations include the use of polyfill?

I'm just wondering...

If you want to use it, it's a pound per cube, so you'd need a pound.

Leave it light and fluffy to the touch. If it becomes to packed it wi;ll have adverce affects on the enclosure.

Polyfill :smash: I have tried it and found no difference in using it or not. It is cheap to get so it does not hurt to put it in the box. I realize Kicker recommends it, but I have sold and installed Kicker for years and never use it. And definately keep it fluffy.

According to the owners manual, the internal volume recommendations (.66-1) include the displacement of the woofer and the box should be filled 50% full of polyfill.

Thanks for the responses.

Kicker recommends polyfill in all their enclosures. Their rule is 1lb/1cuft = 100%. Thus 50% means .5lb/cuft. I also have been selling Kicker for many years and do not use the stuff normally. But if you want, go for it.

Ha, I have owned Solobaric S7 before and have overlooked that polyfill stuff  Should have scanned thru the manual :D
You can get polyfill at Wartmart for real cheap. It is the samething.
