There is a remote wire as well as a antenna wire. I forgot and wasn't used to this, after having the stock system in my vettes for years, first time I heard it go down freaked me out, was looking to see what I had done.

Enough rant ... back to the question -
I've been very happy with the Kenwood 911DVD in my vette. I wouldn't let a brand name exclusively rule my choice of stereo. Features, quality, appearance, size, etc. ... should all be considered. (I've always thought that you couldn't go wrong with the top end of most any vendor.)
I looked very closely at Alpine and Eclipse monitor/receivers before I decided on Kenwood. The Eclipse just wasn't there feature-wise at the time (they're much nicer now) - and the local stereo shop that carried Eclipse treated me like a chump - You missed a big sale guys! :D I was really leaning toward the Alpine, but I looked at 3 different units and the gears that drive the monitor were broken in all 3. I hear they're much better now, but I was very concerned at the time. Further, the Kenwood 911DVD doesn't have gears at the 'point of failure'. I decided that I'd likely have fewer problems with that design - and just like that I was trying to squeeze that 911 system into the car. (For the record, I haven't had any issues with the head unit. The DVD changer broke on me, but Kenwood exchanged it with a brand new unit - sweet!)
In summary, Kenwood, especially the Excelon line, is very good in both quality and features. Also look at the top end models of other brands as well, including Pioneer Premier, Eclipse, and yes - Alpine. In the end, just make sure that your choosing the system you 'want', not the system that everyone told you to buy. You'll be much happier. (that's just my opinion)

I should point out that I know of at least two others that have had a lot of trouble with changers in the back pockets skipping. I think the smooth ride of my FE45 suspension is helping my changer out - as neither of them had it - one was a Z06 and the other had a full Z51 package. (I've got the Z51 sway bar, but not the shocks.) Anyway ... my point is that the "really stiff" cars do seem to have trouble with changers in the back skipping. I believe their head units were fine (no skipping) though.
Maybe one of them will share their experience and final solution here ...

x917 $300 or x569 $225 delivered. How does this sound? Is the x917 worth the extra $?
Harold
x569 is a new model, but doesn't sound like authorized sales, so no 2 year warranty.
Some will harp on this, but it's worth it to me to buy authorized sales, just MHO.
I've had a couple of older (ie -Good) Sony Mobile ES decks (cdx-c910, cdx-c760), but currently, I think of Sony :nonod:
Like StillSingle said, many decks have different strengths, find the one that is right for you. Kenwood met my match. All $ aside, Denon makes me :D
