Since my amps will be behind my seats in the hatch area is the metal under the console a decent place for ground ing my amps. There is already a a few bolts holding the console down and if i sand down the paint, it seems like a good place.
And no I don't have a volt meter to check it with :jester
Thanks
1. Pull the trim off of the Driver door jamb
2. You will see a factory ground location
3. Sand down to bare metal around it's base
4. Use a good ring terminal, place it on the bottom, the factory on top.
5. Bolt it back down.
I used this location for a 2 guage 250 amp ground feed and don't have any issues... I measure .001 ohm resistance at this location, much better than the seats.
You are both right. I found that ground behind the drivers side seat belt also. However my ground wires were too short to reach. So I tapped my own. It is all the same part of the frame/body. I checked it with a volt meter and it went off the scale. Also, I have no noise.
I wouldn't rely on the studs that hold the consol into place. The thickness of the ring terminals will affect how the console lines up.
