Here are some shots... I didn't take any of the amps yet... as the false floor isn't done (next week)... and I'm ashamed of the messy temporary wiring

For the sub enclosure... I did my research. Two weeks ago I glued a strip of MDF to the innner wall of the center opening. 6 days later it was rock hard and wouldn't budge. I then sprayed liquid nails remover on the piece, and waited 30 minutes.. the piece came off and with a little cleanup you would never know it was there.

I was really surprised to see that the 12W7 would fit, if you took off the huge rubber protector on the magnet. So in it would go.

For the box, I cut 2 mdf side pieces that fit along the sides of the box, just under the latches. I used clear liquid nails to glue those two in place (.75" MDF). After they were dry (24 hours), I cut the top from .75" mdf. I also used the 12W7's shipping trim ring and glued it to the tops opening underneath for a total of 1.5" of mount. I filled in the grooves on the back deck with the Dynamat, then a solid sheet of it to even it out. A bead of clear liquid nails was applied to the perimeter, and the top sat down. I used enough sealer so that it squished out everywhere. I then screwed the top into the side pieces.

24 hours later I mounted the sub, and tested for leaks. I found that both the metal lockdowns leaked a little, so I applied some liquid nails to the hole, and no more leaks.

After the entire thing dried another 24 hours, I applied a final sheet of dynamat over the top. I remounted the sub.

The final cubes were perfect around 1.48... After listening to it it hits very had, and is VERY musical. I have yet to hear any sub sounds as musical while playing that loud.

I like the idea of fiberglass, but our aim on aticle was doing something we felt every person could do, so we stuck with MDF (literaly). The rear box was pretty easy, and required no holes in the vehicle.

The MDF brackets for the doors... were a major PITA!

Nice system! Where did you get dash install kit for the head unit with the corvette logo on it? That really sets the dash off! I will be installing a system in my car with the same equipment next month and would really like to have the same mount kit. Thanks for any info

My biggest issue with the door mounts stems from the large Dynaudio speakers. The mounting flange of the mid and sub had to be overlapped in order for the speakers to fit. Also the Dyn's have a unique basket, that doesn't have much taper... meaning that the hole in the fiberglass door and wood trim plate had to be a PERFECT match... Add routing two different planes.. it was a trial and error thing.

The DIN mount is awsome. I ordered a plastic one from TUAN just in case, but used the CNC'd one from Mike Stanzel [mstanzel@flamingpaperbag.com] he was awsome and sent it to me overnight!!!

I did have to file 1/32nd from the opening on the CNC mount to get the DIN sleve to slide in.. no biggie, and unseen once installed.

Awesome job Brian! As an audiophile ... how do you like the tweeter placement in the doors? We've always said to keep them within 8 inches of the woofers ... that position is a little outside that range. ... I was going to put mine there, but chickened out at last minute. If you like yours there I may go back and move mine after all.

Thanks for the early pics!

Your a brave man!!!

BTW, try to mount that W7 verticle, instead of horizontal, now thats a PITA!

Looks good man

That is awsome work

Tell me more about the tweeter install. What is holding it on the other side and is it effectively sending the highs in the right direction?

Dynaudio tweeters are very large... by .5' and pretty deep. We looked at doing it on the A-pillars, but there simply wasn't enough room. Also the tweeter was just to far from the mid.

On placement, the Dynaudio 3" is 75% visible in the upper part of the BOSE opening, the tweeter is 6" if that from it. With a three way, the tweeter whould be 8-10" max from the mid.. so this was a good solution. For a 2-way where there is no "mid" this would be pushing it.

I love them there, very happy. The Dyn's are a little laid back, this definatley livened them up. I moved the tweeter to the -2dB terminals on the X-over, as they were a little bright.

Imaging is right on...

It's nice because when I am riding with a passenger their leg isn't blocking the tweeter.

Great info Brian! That's my main complaint with where I've got them now.

Damn! - I was almost finished ... now I've got to go move the tweeters ... I'm NEVER going to get done with this car!
