What does DVC mean?
a dual 2 could be wired as 1ohm or 4ohm
a dual 4 could be wired as 2ohm or 8ohm
You mean if I bought two DVC Subs that were 4ohm, I could actually run them at 2ohm's each and squeeze more power out of my amp?

What would be a good amp to run them with?
(I'm getting the subs today, local place is having a sale, they're $80 for 2.)

Yes and no .... Tim.
Let me try to set some light to the shade here .... 13 years in this field should come in handy.
Yes you should be able to "SQUEEZE" more power out the amp running a 2 Ohm load.... Granted your amp is designed to run at 2 ohms!!!
Most quality amps this day in age can run at 2 ohms ... need to research your amps specs.
Now on the flip side if your amp is not designed to run at 2 ohms and you still do it .... Its just a matter of time you will damage it.
Dual Voice coils exsists on subwoofers for the simple flexibility of being able to run a single sub in a car due to some of space restrictions and also for the flexibility of being able to run them at 4 or 2 ohms some cases 8 to 4.
For DVC's In most cases the amps are to be run in "Mono" mode .. which is when a amps' wiring scheme is changed from the standard "stereo Config"
to a single output config .. using in some cases in combo switches and different speaker leads from the stereo config ..... the amp runs at full output this way to that single speaker!!
The power rating of the amp is usually higher when run in mono and in certain ohms 2 or lower so it drives that one speaker....
So its safe to say most DVC's are run alone as a single Sub!
In some cases a bunch of DVC's are run in competition to get the ohms really
low when "Cheater amps" are being used!!
This suckers run at a 1/4 ohm and make some sick power!!
They rate very low so they squeeze into smaller watt classes but when wired up to these ohm loads can put out some sick power!!!
My zues hifonics runs at 600 watts rms at 4 ohms 300X2. @ 4 ohms Stereo.
But it can also run "mono" at 2 ohms for 900 watts rms Total.
Up to me to show it 2 ohms so I can squeeze that extra 300 watts RMS.
In this case a really high end DVC Would be good !! here so I can show it 2 ohms ... I would be crazy to use anything less than a 15 inch Sub... a 18 inch would be more suitable... its alot of power and anything too small would die.
Hope this helps ....

I'll be giving a 10A a 1000 watts, and that's not even near hitting it's max...
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
The specs on them are 1000 watts RMS from JBL!
Always remember that there's a big difference between Peak Power handling and RMS .... I suppose there may be a few 10's out there where the man. claims 900 watts rms...
But in the real world I've seen bigger and badder subs than a 10 inch roast under such power condition!
Personally I wouldn't give a 10 inch sub a week to live wired to my zues!
Also alot of this is based on the type of music you listen as well!
