I'm going to do some form of sound deadening for my FRC. I've been reading the posts and so far people seem to be going the sound absorbing way with frost king material or the all out hard-core way with layers and layers of stuff like brown bread/dynamat.
I'm thinking of putting a layer of brown bread down to reduce vibration and to provide damping and using frost king as a sound barrier. I understand that the frost king product is more of a sound barrier rather than a vibration damper?? I know you can use the L-comp as a sound barrier but the frost king is so much cheaper.
What are the pros/cons to doing this and should I still put more than 1 layer of brown bread down? will I be able to fitthe carpet back in?

Re: Brown Bread + Frost King?? (Metal Wulf)
I have done my cargo area and doors in frost king. The problem is the adhesive is not sticky enough. If had to do it it over, I would go with something else.
Don't even bother with Frost King. I just completed a second 8 hour job to replace that useless crap myself. I used Dynamat Extreme and it's much, much better. I don't think Frost King does a thing, nothing. :nonod:

:iagree: Again, another dissapointed Frost King guinea pig. I covered damn near my whole car in this stuff and it seems slightly quieter. I would rather or just done the back section or redo it in a more effective product. I second the complaint about it not being sticky enough. Plus the damn aluminum facing seperates from the foam.... $15 per roll for a reason... :nonod:

Re: Brown Bread + Frost King?? (Kale)
2 layers of Brown Bread will do better than the frost king. It isnt worth the space it takes up.
:iagree: Absolutely, don't waste your time on Frost King, I have been saying that all along but some people have to learn for themselves. Stick with a couple/few layers of Brown Bread and you will be fine.
yeah I understand that the frost king doesn't work well as a damping layer but if you layer it on top of 1 layer of brown bread, would it be able to act as a sound absorber for less weight than another layer of brown bread?

from my expiraments with a DB meter and frost king... the stuff is inferior as a sound deadener
I personally don't believe it kills any sound. Not a bit so it's a complete waste of money in my opinion since it will make no difference in sound levels if you use it or not.
But, it is a good thermal insulation so if you are trying to block any hot or cold temperatures from getting through it may help with that.
