Alpine or Kenwood
I've got $300 or less to spend, and have narrowed it down to the KDC-MP522 and Alpine CDA-9807 HUs...both have same wattage 22 vs. 23 RMS.
I'm not running an amp now, but may in future...not for a while though.
Differences are Kenwood has 2V preamps, Alpine has 4V, other than that they are almost identical spec-wise.
Anyone have any recommendations as far as brand? Quality? etc.... I cannot decide!
Thanks

Alpine is always the answer! Unless you're looking for "purist" head units of course. (nakamichi, denon)

Lowest prices on the net. You can do WAY better than what you're looking at for $300. If you're willing to splurge, you can get the Kenwood X869 (one step down from top of the line) for $379.

Re: Alpine or Kenwood
Spend another $30 and get the Alpine CDA-9813. I am confident that you will be very please with the quality on this headunit.

Another /////Alpine vote here. I would trade my CDA-7892 in on only a better Alpine unit. Clarity and options are fantastic. Plus, the time correction is great.

Well I've never had any problems with my Clarion. The only Alpine I had scratched my CD's after about 2 weeks so I took it back and got a Pioneer to replace it.

I used to have a Clarion HX-d10 (their old limited edition flagship unit) with outside dsp unit.. it sounded pretty good, but didnt relaly compare to the alpine i have now. the only complaint i have about Clarion is unless a cd is optically perfect, it won't read it. very picky! the alpine has not bee picky so far..
what alpine was it that scratched the cds?

Hey all, thanks for the input. I don't have much experience with aftermarket stuff so this helps!
