Also, on the new unit, the black chassis ground wire...what do I screw that down to?
And...do I need an antenna adapter? The antenna cable in the dash is pretty small on the OD, about 1/4", and the socket on the back of my replacement unit is pretty darn big, 3/8", 7/16", something like that. The sides of the factory cable won't contact the sides of the new socket.

He'p me, He'p me!
Tuan, anybody...does someone have a pre-made Pioneer-to-C5 wiring adaper that just plugs in, or am I going to be cutting and splicing wires no matter what?
I've done an install before, on an old Chevy celebrity about twelve years ago. I've got a cheap multimeter.
Re: Need a C5 head unit wire color chart / description... (Still_Single)
I still can't get any power to the unit.
Does the antenna have to be plugged in before the unit will power up?
My harness adapter has a red wire that's supposed to go to the 12v source that's switched by the ACC position on the ignition switch...what does that equate to on the C5's pinout? Is that the Comfort/Entertainment Bus? What is the "serial data" wire good for?
I also have one wire labeled "Illumination" and one labeled "Dimmer". I think I have the illum right, but there's no available connection for the dimmer.
Thanks for the info. However, can you explain the pink wire out of C1? I am in the middle of my install now. I have found the yellow ignition wire in the passenger footwell.
Is there anything I need to do with the pink wire out of C1? Sorry, but I didn't fully get your comment from the other post. Thanks

can you explain the pink wire out of C1?
I believe this to be correct, but I'll put in my disclaimer that I could be totally wrong here - I'm sure someone will step in if I am ... :D
The pink wire on C1 powers the Radio Antenna Module - basically, it's an antenae selector/amplifier. (it's located behind the plastic panel in the side wall - just behind the driver door)
I wired my Kenwood power antenae line output to this - so that the RAM is powered when the Kenwood is on. I don't think you have to do this, but I 'think' you'll get better FM reception if you do.
... as for the diversity antenaes - the switching of antenaes is done from the factory GM head unit by signaling the dark green wire on C1. Most after market radios don't support this - so if you leave it disconnected, you've chosen one antenae - give it a 12V + and you've chosen the other antenae. I wish I could tell you which was forward/back, but I honestly don't know. I wired up a toggle switch that lets me select the antenaes by hand ... but to be honest, I never use it. Maybe someone else will tune in and add some more info ...
FYI - only coupes have the Radio Antenna Module - as it's tied to the in-the-glass antenaes used in the coupe.

BTW: I have 2000 coupe.
I tapped in my remote turn on to the pink wire on C1... then amp will only turn on when the radio is on. I ended up having to tap into the green wire on C1 to get power when in Radio and CD mod. :)

Are you using the factory HU? I used the remote lead from my Alpine (blue/white stripe) to my amp remote turn on.
As for the factory pink wire, I did a little more research. The pink wire does indeed go to the antenna turn on lead from the HU.

Yeah, I am using factory HU. the pink wire only turns the amp on when the radio is on. Which means when you turn the CD on, the amp won't turn on... so I used the green wire which works :)
