As you guys already know, the Bose system sucks! I'm looking to upgrade asap and would like to get some advice.
I just bought a stealthbox with an MBQuartx 12" from Mike and a JBL 300.1 amp. Is there a way to improve the stereo without having to replace the head unit? I want to make the stereo sound better and louder. I've heard that I can just add a set of tweeters to the existing bose system and that would make the sound louder. Is this a good idea?
I just want a better stereo w/o having to spend a lot of money. Just trying to get an idea about what I need to buy.
you can add the sub to the stock system for a huge increase in the lows but you'll still be stuck with avg mids and terrible highs. If you don't want to replace the HU, at the least you'll want to upgrade the stock speakers.
Be careful. I said those excat same words about 2 years ago. Just a CD player with 2 way speakers up front. Now I've got a bad butt head unit, component up front, 2 ways in the rear, 2 12's, a BIG amp for the 12's, and an amp for the front speakers. Audio upgrading is just as addictive as performance upgrading.

Here is an easy and inexpensive way to increase highs, and clarity from the stock HU.
I think your gunna want to replace the stock headunit. Most people on this forum feel that all you really need is some front speakers, and to use the stock rear speakers for fill or just remove them.
Has anyone moved the stock front speakers to the rear and used those as fill? Are the front 6.5s better than the rears?
