Default C5 sub questions

I'm adding a sub to my stock system. I have a CD changer in the rear right compartment and plan to put the sub in a stealth box in the center compartment. I talked with an audio store guy today and wanted to double check his info. He said the speaker must have a 4 ohm impedance to connect to the stock delco system. Is that true? I was looking at 4 ohm DVC but that would not work according to him (I need SVC 4 ohm or DVC 8 or 2 ohm to get 4 ohm).

Also, does the sub hook up via pre-amp out or speaker connections (which ones)? This could affect what kind of amp I get.

Will the vibrations from the sub interfere with the CD changer in the adjacent compartment, like make it skip?

Thanks for your advice.

-yes but you can get a converter.

-speaker

-it can, happened to me before when I had a stock changer.

What kind of converter to hook up a 2ohm system to the delco? Where can I get one?

you can go to http://www.linkmeup.com to get the PD-2. Or go to Ebay, and get you one of those Stinger SLOC :)

Am I the only one that caught this
Pick whatever sub ohm you want, just get an amp to match. You can't hook a sub directly to the Bose, because you need an amplifier to run it, this will determine which ohm loud of speaker you get. Be afraid, be very afraid of this info

That's what I thought too. The speaker resistance is related to the amp driving it not the head unit. The installer was thinking of hooking the amp up to the speaker (which I thought was a bad idea, since I think the Delco head unit has a pre amp out) but he insisted it had to go to the speaker. He said the speaker resistance is 4 ohm so the input to the amp will be 4 ohm. But how does that relate to the resistance of the amp driving the sub?

I don't quite understand what he's trying to do. There is no Bose amp in the system to run an after-market sub. You need to add both the sub and amp as after-market pieces. He might be confused with some cars having a small factory sub, and trying to put an after-market sub on that amp, but the C5 doesn't have that. Just use a line-out converter placed at the correct spot in the factory system. Add an after-market amp and sub that complements each other as far as power and ohm load is conserned. And enjoy!
