Default What to do, what to do? (C-3)

I have an '80 Vette with Kenwood 6x9s (back) and 6x4s (front) and I am looking to see what I can do to get a bit more punch out of the system. The previous owner put in a JVC CD receiver and the speakers and the whole system just sounds very shrill to me. I am thinking a small sub somewhere in the back would do me right, nothing overpowering or huge in inches. What have you other C-3 guys done for sub installs in your Vettes? I keep looking back there and am stumped as to where someone would mount a sub. I am not partial to an external box sitting back there (the ever present problem of T-top storage) but I just do not see any other way. I don't have the model numbers or wattage of what is in the car already but I figure a small eight or ten inch sub would do me fine if I could find a place for it to live. Anybody else been down this path and come up with a solution?

I am going to put an Elemental Designs e8a into an enclosure in the jack well. The Elemental sub is designed for very small enclosures and is supposed to have very good bottom end for an 8.

I have a very large 5 channel PPI amp to run my 8 incher and Boston Pro 4.5 seperates. If I was thinking I would have went with a larger 4 channel amp and just bridged two channels to run the sub.

If you follow manufacturer's recommended specs with your sub boxes, you will find that there are very few choices for a good sub with enough room to fit the tops in the back. You have a little more room under that big back window, so you might have some better choices than me.

:yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:

It was was about $3000-$3500 AUS for the amp, speakers, subs and handiwork. If you are skilled enough to make a mould, you are half way there!

Heres mine. I cramed a 10" bazooka in the jack compartment. I custom built the box my self. Not that hard. about $50 cdn in materials and a little time. If you have any questions let me know.
