Are the CDT subs as good as their component systems? I am am going to put a 10" into my C3 vert. Also the local car stereo shop has rec. that I replace my Alpine 75X4 amp with either an Eclipse or Audiobahn to go with my Polk Momo 6.5 components and a sub, running 4X6 ALpines in front dash. Suggestions and alternatives are welcome.

Re: CDT sub question (gdh)
Are you talking about the MS-100 CDT 10", the HD1020 sub, or the Eurosport sub? The MS-100 is at best average along the lines of most low quality subs on the market. They don't suck but they are not special either. The HD1020 is a little better, on the lines of the Rockford RFP4110. The Eurosport is pretty much a DVC version of the HD's with better SQ. So, which sub are you referring to?
Also, what kind of HU are you running? As far as what you said in your post it sounds like the audio shop is trying to pawn off their crap on you. Don't ever replace an Alpine amp with an Audiobahn amp. That's just counterproductive.
Now, to make sure I understand your setup correctly, you have Alpine 4x6's in the dash, Polk Momo components in the doors and will soon have a CDT 10" sub in the back? Is that correct? If so I would say keep the Alpine amp and run the Polk's and 4x6's (if you even keep them) with it. Then get a new amp (not Audiobahn) to run the sub with. To amp the sub and keep the price down, I would say either US Acoustics or Rockford Fosgate. You don't need high SQ for a sub amp. Power of the amp will be determined by the model sub you have. Then, in the future when you save up more money, you can always upgrade the amp running your front components, but until then this should do fine.
It was the MS-100, I have an Excellon preamp/processor so it has no built in amp. I like your idea of keeping the Alpine and adding a dedicated sub and amp. I switched some of the wires around today as played with the amp and it sounds much better, ie. speakers weren't in phase as a friend of mine who installs car audio put it (At least I think that is what he said). I have he Polk's in the rear corners in boxes, after the changes made today I really hear the need for a good sub to round out the soundstage. Thanks for your help it is greatly appreciated.
The MS-100 sounds spectacular... But DO NOT GET LOUD AT ALL. You'd need at least 4 to be happy with them
I would put the sound quality of the MS sub near that of the Image Dynamics IDMAX.. but like i said, they are so quiet.. unless you are going for flat RTA... don't buy a CDT sub.
Image dynamics IDQ sounds almost as good, and gets a lot louder.. and the IDQ is not a loud sub. So take that FWIW.
I'm with Kale - I've built a few hundred car systems, including a bunch with CDT (back when they were Clif Designs). The subs are much like the components in that they are fantastic for SQ, but not for SPL. A lot of the folks here like the huge JL 10, which is of course really expensive. I went with the Audiobahn Alum10, which is a great sub for the money.
What do you think of the ORION 225 HCCA DIGITAL REFERENCE AMPLIFIER, I guess what I am trying to say is that I have a fairly high end home theatre in the house and like quality sound and the ability to play it loud, if the Polk's have to go well I can put them in my wife's Explorer, and I want a quality with good sound sub as well. As you can tell I am not all that familiar with auto systems, but the learning curve is definately fun. I may also put some speakers in the door, not the kick panel where stock used to be, just looking for advice form all of the vette specialists here.
