Not 100% yet but basically this is what I did to loose the crappy bose system that rattled and overloaded and sounds like crap. Even after I replaced the speakers, the tweeters were way down in the cavity of the door and not making a direct shot to the ears. Worse yet the doors would rattle and buzz. The response was pretty peaky too when I put it on my RTA.
So I made custom mounts of MDF with "rings" that push out and angle the speakers. I also treated the doors by removing the side impact foam. All it did was squeek and I tried to glue it down to no avail. Then I used felt and dampened the friction fittings of the door. I also glued down the plastic black cage behind the grilles and the emblums of the grills. I also found out the system has the smoothest response with the tweeters in reverse polarity to the mids as verified by my real time analyzer. I put the door panels back on and after some EQing wow it sounds good!
I still have not treated the doors or the door skins as I ran out of time money and motivation and I wanted to see if there were any other rattles.
Yeah, if you take both the grills off the car, you'll find that one is slightly skinnier then the other. Thus, the way I had my tweeters angled, one of them wouldnt fit and I had to improvise.
