Need a few suggestions on sub choice for my 98 C5. I have the CDT CL-61's in the doors and will have them in the rear area as well. Alpine head unit, old school fosgate power 300 running them and an old school fosgate punch 150 to drive a sub. Looking for one 12" sub for the storage area. Probably end up with one of Mikes boxes. Looking for the best combo of SPL and SQ that I can get. Recently heard a friends system with 2 eclpise 10's(the metal cone type) and they hit very hard and clean. Looking for something to do the same. I listen to a wide variety of music mostly newer rock(disturbed and such) and alot of old rap.( I know weird combo huh)
I was thinking along the lines of Kicker, JL, Fosgate or something of the sort.

A lot depends. How much power is your amp going to send the sub? Do you want a 12" or 10". How much do you want to spend?
Out of the brands you mentioned, I do go with the Eclipse Aluminums, Kicker L5 or L7 (depending on power and size), or the JLs. Rockford is not what it used to be, I'd steer clear. Now JL makes "a sub for all occations" Depending on the model, you can get mainly SQ out of lower power, all the way up to the some of the best sounding SPL out there. The downside is that you will need more room (air volume) and more power.

Kicker and Fosgate wont give you the SQ you are looking for. I'd go with an E12k from http://www.edesignaudio.com
Lee, the E12K will fit in my S-2 box and I have heard many good reviews about these subs.
I am currently buidling a super hang-over box for 2 e10O.
Let me know

Right now I am waiting to hear back from fosgate on what my particular amp puts out in bridged mode. I haven't used it in so long I forgot the specs other than the stereo mode specs. So once I know the ohm and power rating I will be able to make a firm decision. I will post power output back up here for a final concensus. Thanks!!
Unless any of you guys happen to remember. It's a Fosgate Punch 150 HD amp. 1988-1990 model type.

I have a friend that has a Elemental Design 12" O in his car and it is one serious sounding woofer, hits very hard and clean, and for a good price, you can't beat it.....I'm installing 2 10" O's in mine :D

I have two 10" MB Quarts with a rockford 1200W amp... less than $650 total (subs, box, amp, install) and I have unbelievable bass. I have to turn it down! Maybe I'm getting old (only 32) but MAN it's loud!
Re: Need some suggestions on sub choice.... (zo6fun)
OK the amp that I will be using to drive the sub will push 150W @ 4ohms X 1. Do you think that will be enough for the ED 12? Or should I look into getting a new amp? I can always go larger later, but looking for some feedback. Thanks guys....

Well I have a slight change of plans, I just acquired a old fosgate power 650. So I know I will have enough power to run a sub now. So I will use the power 300 for the hi's and the 650 for the sub. Does that sound a little better???
