Ok, there are a few. Which one does everyone like? Also, are they all pretty much plug and play? Also, what about mounting kits? I see that there is one out there that comes with a mini pocket to fill out the rest of the DIN 1/2 section. I don't have the funds to rip it all out, but I have an MP3 deck just sitting around that I would like to make use of.
Re: Best Adapter for replacement HU w/Bose (vettatude)
If you know you are gonna add speakers later, don't waste you money on a Bose HU adapter. Either just hook up the HU and lose only 2 of the 4 speakers in the doors, or pull out the Bose speaker assembly in the doors and sell them on eBay for $100. Now not only did you not spend $90 on an adapter, you have $190 to spend on a set of speakers or components.
Re: Best Adapter for replacement HU w/Bose (vettatude)
Made by PAC, OEM-1. I used their stuff for over 2 years with no problems. They aren't cheap either as already stated. A good front pair of speakers costs the same. The wiring is a PITA because you have to go from HU back to Bose stereo unit in the back. But all my Bose units still sounded fine, so I did that. The fronts have now died so out it all has come and a new system is going in.
You also have to buy the GM wire harness and the wire harness for your brand stereo. A few more bucks. Some other stuff to fill the hole in the dash. Some new antenna material since the antenna actually ends behind the seats, but your new unit ends at the new unit at the dash.

Did you have the bose gold? What harness did you buy to adapt the factory harness in the dash? The one I found doesn't mate up with it since it is that dam bose crap.
Ever figure out how to use the new HU to trip the power antenna ?
Re: Best Adapter for replacement HU w/Bose (corvette-pilot)
Just for an update. I bought just a standard Metra wiring harness. I am not using the Bose signal processor, but I tapped into the wires that carry the low level signal to the amps in the doors for the woofers. I used speaker level outputs for the twiddlers and rears, and low level amp outputs tapped into the lines to the amps. I use the amp turn on wire to send the signal to the Bose relay which in turn sends 12v to the amps to turn on. It all works pretty well save for some noise due to my low level contraption. I'll be looking into that soon.

Yes I had the gold stuff, like that mattered any. I bought the PAC OEM-1, then the SON16 since I had a Sony HU, and the AMP-GM21 to connect to the factory wiring harnesses.
Yeah, I got the antenna to work as it should have all along. The antenna is only up when the radio is playing. When I select any other media it retracts.
