head unit mounting???

head unit mounting???
Is it possible to mount a head unit with it positioned vertically so that the face plate is facing up? I need to know for my brothers Taurus with the electronic a/c controls...we need some way to mount the reciever, but there is no adapter available to fit any aftermarket stereo.
So, I thought we could mount it in the center console and use a wired remote for the volume/track access/etc. Problem is, I have no idea whether many cd recievers will function in that position...specifically a Blaupunkt MP-41.
Any thoughts? :confused:

That's the problem...Blaupunkt doesn't say anything about it on their website, and I keep getting an answering machine when I call them. :mad

There is no problem doing that.
Keep in mind that you will be all but eliminating and skip protection of the unit, as almost all units only have one direction of dampening.
