Re: Alpine MP3 Head (FYNL4)
I "tired" a 7998. It skips really easily on mp3, but I like it otherwise.

Re: Alpine MP3 Head (Kale)
Thanks for the "rpely". Not real happy about the skipping, I wonder if that's typical?

Re: Alpine MP3 Head (FYNL4)
FYNL4, I've been running a CDA-7897 for 6 months (daily driver). Only had a CD skip once on me over rough railroad tracks. Never had a MP3 disk skip. I had placed a small amount of foam rubber underneath the backend of the Alpine during installation, which I believe is helping cushion bumps. :)

Re: Alpine MP3 Head (DC5)
I have CDA-7897 also, skipped twice, once was at Railroad, and the other was at speed bump (going alittle fast :D) Still a nice HU though!!

Re: Alpine MP3 Head (C5BlkVette)
Thanks for all the info, sounds like the odd skip is no big deal and a CDA-7897 is in my future.

Re: Alpine MP3 Head (FYNL4)
I have one of the Alpine MP3 units. I forget which model. It has yet to skip. I have had it for over a year now. My Vette is a daily driver. I think a lot of skipping issues are due to installation. The mounting kit on mine is metal...not plastic. I love it!!
