I am going to be getting an 87' Coupe from another forum member this weekend and was wondering is the pressure from a bandpass sub in the rear is too much for the rear glass? I know in alot of minor accidents the airbags will blow out the rear window-just a thought. This is my 3rd C4 but ive never messed with the sound system before.
Thanks
Ben
:iagree: i have 2 12's in my 81 and every trim piece in the car rattles  but what really drives me crazy is the gas door rattling :smash: since the 81 is parked for the winter, i'm thinking about taking the system out and putting it in my 86 :lurk:
Thanks for the reply guys, a bandpass is a sub in a chambered box that generally hits deeper than a stand alone sub, I had the box in my Z28 and it was ok, i just know what that rear glass costs after having bought one for my first 93'. Its going to be good to be back around here-if everything works out ill have the car this weekend
Ben
Kewl,
Thanks for the info guys-i will work on getting it in the car, i just had the concern becuase i've bought/sold/looked at several vettes that the pressure from the bags going off blew out the glass and was just wondering before i did something the glass new is $1300 plus shipping.
Look at my cardomain website, and you'll see my setup. I have one 10" Kicker Comp VR in a sealed box, with a 300watt RMS Class-D amp running to it. Amazingly, NOTHING in my car rattles...the rearview mirror SHAKES, but nothing audible.

The rear glass?
more than likely, the airbags did NOT break it... an accident with enough force to discharge the airbag is going to cause the chassis to crush... that alone would cause a slight deformation of the glass, as the hinge and latch try to merge. hence, glass breakage.
IF the airbags had THAT much concussive force upon detonation, it would kill the driver.
windscreens get busted when the airbag doors blast open.
