I've got an Alpine 7894 head unit, CDT HD62cf components forthe front, US Acoustics USX2150 amp to run them. My question is should I put some CDT6x's in the rear for the fill. The Zeb has them for $50, and can they run off of head unit power. Would it be worth it to do this? I'm going to see what this sounds like and then decide if I want to put in a sub later. Thanks in advance for the help.

No, I don't have a sub now, but I don't know how everything sounds, because I am going to put this together over the winter, and then in the spring, I'm probably going to buy a Pioneer AVH-7500 DVD multi media reciever, and sell the Alpine. I thought that I might pick up some mid bass using the rear speakers. Please tell me if I'm wrong.

You will pick up midbass using a rear speaker but if you are serious about your staging you will not like having the midbass there. Reason being is that the rear speakers are closer to your head than the front speakers are which will cause a staging problem and second if you use the speaker as a midbass only it will cause the stage to pull to the rear of the car espically with male voices. On the other hand you will have more midbass and depending on the music you listen to could get away without having a sub. Personally I have my midbass, midrange, and tweeter in the stock location and am not going to use a rear speaker other than the sub.
By the way I have two Pioneer AVH P 7500 units and love them. The navigation is so sweet...who needs a freakin map? lol
Re: Speaker question for you guys.............. (LuvmyC5)
Yes I installed them myself....that is what I do for a living :) They are only slightly more difficult than a standard radio. Being that they have a control brain that has to be mounted somewhere. In my vette the box is behind the passenger seat. I wanted to put it in the rear but it only has a 9' cable. YOu have to run power, two cables, and an antenna extension to the box. The indash parts has the rca outputs and speaker outputs. If you can install a normal radio you can put in the AVH P7500. Do you plan on using the navigation? That is a hair bit trickier.
Re: Speaker question for you guys.............. (EatRice)
Thanks EatRice! I put in my Alpine, but used all of the OEM PAC stuff, and didn't have to run many wires. This winter, I'm going to ATTEMPT to istall an amp/components. Next spring I'll probably buy a Pioneer like you have, but not the nav unit, because I don't think that I need it (we have one already in my wife's car). Even a simple install is advanced for me, but it's probably like anything alse, once you do it, you find out it wasn't so bad. We'll see!
