Default Engine Noise with tape deck only

I have a pretty basic set up in my '68. Two amps, a US Acoustics running ADS speakers in the rear and a Kenwood amp running speakers in the front kick panels. I have the amps wired to the battery with distribution blocks, etc. with help from this Forum. Everything sounds great but I get a engine whine only with the tape deck playing. If I listen to the radio, I get no engine noise. The noise started a few months ago when I rebuilt my transmission but I am not sure of the relationship, if any. While the tranny was out of the car, I installed the missing transmission tunnel insulation (which is covered in foil). What do you guys think? Any ideas? Are the tape heads picking up some electrical signal? Since the insulation is located directly below the radio, is it acting like an antenna transmitting some elctrical noise from the positive cable running along the tunnel and beind the insulation? I don't quite know how to isolate the noise.

That is very odd. Can you hear the noise when the volumne is turned down on the radio and the tape is playing? As far as finding out if the noise is radiated from your add on. The best thing to do to find that out is to remove the radio from the dash and leave the wires connected. Pull it as far from the tranny hump as possible and see if the noise is still there. Another thing you can do is bypass the ignition wire on the radio and hook it directly to 12v. If you do this and the noise is gone then you can wire a really to make the switched wire trigger the relay instead of powering your radio. If that does not work check the ground. Try grounding the radio in the same spot your amps are grounded in. There is the rca's to consider also but if you are positive there is no noise when the radio is on then it is not coming from there. Hope this helps.
