hi on my 84 vette with the bose system my cassette tapes are playing great but then all of a sudden it started to change tracks ,i tried other tapes but its the sams thing any ideas? thanks greg84
hi,its like a song is playing fine on the cassette then all of a sudden it clicks and jumps to another song ,it jumps back and forth on all of the song tracks.greg84
This is a guess  but an educated guess :)
It sound like the tape is switching directions on you. Say you are on side A listening to a tune and bam, the direction and head flip and now you are listening to a tune on side B. Inside the deck there is one of two things that might be bad. I do not think it is this, but some decks use tension to flip the tape. But since yours does it on all tapes so I'm leaning more to this. There could be the device that sees the clear part at the end of the tape that is going bad or dirty. Again these are guesses. If I was you, I would use a tape cleaner in the deck. I would also blow some air in there to dislodge some possible dust.
Do not use too much pressure since some decks have belts in them. I have work on a few home decks but never a Bose car deck. I hope this helps.
If all fails, time to go aftermarket :D
