Finally finished the "BIG 3" upgrade on my car. I have to find the pictures of the grounds to the motor. I replaced the two factory grounds on the under hood with 0ga. Where the frame factory ground was I upgrade the mount with a Stinger piece that has alot more surface area contacting the frame....it is the same piece that is in the picture of the rear ground. I upgraded the factory alternator lead to 0ga and the lead to the under hood fuse box to 4ga. The battery box I machined out of 1" aluminum and 1" plexi glass. There are 6 LEDs in the aluminum top plate to light the plexi up. The loose wires are for the switch that I have not yet installed.
I have painted the removed paint area black again but no need to post that pic. When the inner fender well is back on only about 6 inches of wire is exposed but it is tied up high and tight. That is also 0ga.
Yes Jay I have an ATI blower....also almost 600 ponies at the tires :)
Upgrading the ground allows for more current flow through the entire car. The ground should be as large if not larger than the positive wire. I guess that depends on which current theory you believe. Either way current flows in a circle.
That is good write up on how to do the "big 3" upgrade. The only thing I did not like was the length of the wire going from the alternator to the battery. When I did mine I removed the factory wires and replaced them along the factory path. Whether you add or replace they both do the job but you want to keep wire runs as short as possible.
