Default Best setup for Coupe

Ok I've read all the posts about the best component sets but no one has actually said what sounds best in the Vette. Can someone help me choose between the Crystal, CDT, and the Focal 3 way seperates?

The only way to know what is best is to listen for yourself.

Focals will be the clearest, most detailed. Possibly also the brightest or harshest without an EQ

Crystals will be fairly clear, kind of sterile sounding.

CDT's are warm and laid back.

I was hoping you would reply. I'm really new at this stuff although I've installed a lot of systems I don't understand the crossover stuff. I'm currently running the Kenwood Excelon 959, Kenwood 9044 EQ, MB Quart 12 sub in the rear and Infinity Kappa 63.5i in the rear. I'm just looking for something in the front that will sound good. I listen to a lot of R&B and Jazz. Oh did I mention I'm running this off the MTX Thunder 895.

For jazz, I think you'd be happiest with Focal speakers.

I had a chance to get a set of Focal 165 3 ways a couple of weeks ago. The guy said they were 2001 model and were excellent. Do you know how good those particular set are? Where can I find the best deal on a component set? I know Sounddomain has some great prices. Hey I saw your post on the DEI, are they better than the 3 that I'm looking at?

I'd go with the DEI over the Crystals, but definately not over Focals.

Is it the Utopia set? (Grey with black speck cones) if so, they are pretty spectacular speakers. Above Crystal, DEI, and CDT for accuracy, and overall... just being revealing speakers. The older yellow coned speakers are pretty good too, but I kind of prefer the CDT to those. DEI's are only 2 ways, anyway.

Im getting my Utopias put back in my truck (huge mid, Im letting a pro do it, I dont want to mess with moving stuff like window tracks in the door)

Hey Kale,

I've had really good luck with

etronics.com

I haven't ordered from them over here, because despite my United States Address, they insist on charging me overseas shipping.

Hey Kale, I just took your advice (from your review) and ordered some Viper 650.2's from Sounddomain. Did I make the right choice over the CDT HD62 CF's?

Yep, if you prefer a crisper, clearer sound.
