Default Repost from C4 forum.

A quick Radio question. My father and I recently purchased a 91 vette and low and behold it has a cassette player (which I am coming to realize most of the 91’s have). Before I went home this past holiday to finally see the vette for the first time I had been doing some investigation on how to replace the factory Bose stereo. Well I got in the car and noticed that nowhere does it say Bose on the radio or the speakers. I looked at the owners manual and it shows a picture of a “regular” Delco radio and then the “Bose Gold” radio.

Well, mine looks somewhat like both radios. It has the same basic layout of both, but the “Auto reverse” writing is on the right hand side of the cassette door (which neither the Bose Gold or the Delco pictures in the manual seem to have), so the question is; Can anybody assist me in telling what radio I have (Bose or Delco) and if it is the Bose am I going to have a difficult time changing the head unit and the speakers ( I have heard that the Bose speaker setup is tricky to swap out due to the 1ohm amplified speakers).

PS:any recommendations for a good setup would be welcome as well !!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards;

Spike,
if you have a Bose unit in the car ....it will say it on everything.....If you want to replace everything....It's nothing....no more complicated than anything else.....Is it a double din unit in the 91, or is it a din and a half?....I don't remember....either way its not big deal....all of us are here to help....

apollo30346 ;

Thanks for the support ( I appreciate it). I am quite positive it didn't say Bose anywhere (although the rear speakers had a plastice cover that looked like it could have had a logo, but it no longer does). I am positive that it did not say it either on the HU or the front speakers.

Apollo;

I just sent you a quick pic (via e-mail) of the radio in question. Thansk again for the help and I will definitely be posting once I get to the car again (it is stored about an hour away).
