I'm looking to sound insulate my C5 convertible to reduce road noise and tire whine. The Dynamat seems to be a proven product but is very pricey at $28 per 4sq st sheet. There is a new product out that appears to be a knockoff of the Dynamat called FatMat and sells for $125 per 100sq ft package.
Anyone know of this product and is it as good as the Dynamat?
Re: FatMat - Is It a Real Dynamat Alternative? (Hammer)
From what I have read, around 20lbs. But who cares! At 423 RWHP I doubt I'll notice a loss in performance. Besides, as noisy as the C5 is, 20lbs is what the General should have put into the car in the first place to get the sound / noise levels to an acceptable range for a $55,000 car. I know of $11,000 Hyundai's that are quieter.
This is my 3rd vette, and my last. The C6 will be just as riddled with holes as the C5 is, which is an improvement over my 2 C4's - barely.
I'll FatMat and Lcomp my vette later this month to get the noise down. I'm tired of having to holler at my passenger just so they can hear me 12" away. It's ridiculas.

Good news. GM says the 2005 Corvette will have a quieter interior.
Hyundai hasn't said anything about when their cars will have 4-second acceleration from 0-60.
Cheers.
