Ok, I'm just about finishing my install. I have the CDT-641 3 way components but my problem is where to mount the tweeters. Can someone tell me the best spot and does anyone have pictures of there tweeters. I've narrowed it down to the pillars or cutting my door panels. Thanks
The CDT's have a lousy mounting system that requires close to 1" of depth to flush mount them in the doors. In the 2 installs I did with them, I put them in the door pulls instead. My MB tweeters were able to be flush mounted in the door panels because there was enough clearance.
IMO, you need to keep the tweeter within 6" of the midrange
A must according to the manufacturers. I have seen 3-ways mounted with the tweeter sandwhiched in between the woofer and mid. I looked to mount my tweeters in the pillar but after trying them in the door before hacking my car apart, I'm glad I went with the door location as it sounds fabulous. CDT speakers raise the sound up to your ears, and the front sound stage sounds incredible for just having components in the door.
