ZR3 Laser Shifter Pics

I haven't detected any laser signals yet, but have read some excellent reviews about this unit by other forum members here and at z06vette.com forum.
I wasn't sure about mounting the front shifter modules behind the screens in a Z06 but a few others have done this and report that it works great.
This is a very stealth-like install. You really have to know its there and be looking for it to see it.
Even the display controller can be pulled loose from the head liner and tucked behind sun visor if you find a need to conceal it.
Front shifter module viewed from behind screen. I used one of the existing screen mounting bolts on the one side and an additional bolt on the oposite side for each of the front shifter modules.
Front shifter viewed from in front of the screen(This module is only visable because of camera flash and can't be seen otherwise)
Rear shifter module mounted above license plate
Interface module mounted in passenger side floor board below fuse panel
Display controller mounted to head liner with velcro above the rear view mirror

but if you get a speeding ticket, don't blame me, blame leolufse :jester
Or if you do get pulled over, show the cop how nicely you did the install. Perhaps he will give you a break for your good work.
Just giving you a hard time Jim.

Hey Lars, if I have the misfortune of getting pulled over, you'll probably see this set-up for sale here soon afterwards
How's your rear camera install coming around? Did you ever get it completed?
Hope to get one installed in mine this winter.

I am looking at the ZR3 / SL7 also. Two questions...
1. Can you install it yourself (I have good to average stereo install abilities)
2. Do you need BOTH head units or just the one ZR3
Any words would be great. Thanks

The hardest part of the install for me was mounting the front shifter modules in the air ducts because of having to go behind the screens and removing all the pieces underneath to get to it. No big deal really, just time consuming.
About your 2nd question, I believe the SL7 system uses its own integrated display controller that combines both the radar detector & laser shifter operations. You might check with Tuan at TL Electronics about this.
Here's a couple more pics of how I ran the wire for the two front shifter modules. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions.
I ran the front two shifter module wires through the drivers side wheel well into the floor board behind the drivers foot rest inside the car.
This is a pic of the same two wires (2 larger horizontal wires behind clutch pedal) coming in through the floor board behind the foot rest, which has been removed at this point. I then ran them over to the control module I mounted below the fuse panel in the passenger floor board.

The Escort ZR3 can be operated as a stand alone unit. However, you can have it easily integrated with other Escort products such as the Solo S2 (cordless radar/laser detector), the popular Passport 8500 or the SR7.
The SR7 is pretty much the stealth (hidden install) version of the Passport 8500 radar/laser detector. It doesn't jam laser. So when you add the ZR3 to it, the sensors that comes with the ZR3 unit will replaces the one that comes with the SR7.
We carry all of them. Below are the links. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.
