Pioneer wire colors
I have a Pioneer cd player laying around and want to stick it in my truck. My problem is that I don't have the owners manual so I don't know the color coding on the speaker leads.
I've searched for the model number (which I don't have with me) and it came up empty. I've searched Pioneers webiste and they don't even list the model number.
Aren't the color codes standardized on the things?
what are the colors? depending on how old it is Pioneer changed their colors. I have owners manuels for many of their radios going back ten years. It should not be a problem letting you know what the colors are.
These have not changed
Yellow constant 12v
Red switched 12v
Orange illumination
Blue power antenna/amplifier
Black ground
the speaker wires is what has changed it might have green and green black/gray and gray black/purple and purple black/and white and white black. Or it could be older and have a few different speaker colors. Some pioneer radios had a few other wires also. So post up what it has and I will try to tell you what they all are.

Re: Pioneer wire colors (EatRice)
It is a Pioneer DEH-235. It is a Wal-Mart el cheapo I bought for temporary use. I think I bought it around 1997.
I have the following unaccounted for wires:
black/green stripe
black/gray stripe
green/red stripe
gray/red strip
gray
gray/black stripe
green
green/black stripe
If the wire colors followed a more conventional method of solid + and stripe - I could figure this out. But what they did just doesn't make sense.
I know what you mean. The red stripe refers to the rear speakers.
Green Front left (+)
Green/black front left (-)
Gray front right (+)
Gray/black front right (-)
Green/red rear left (+)
Black/green rear left (-)
Gray/red rear right (+)
Black/gray rear right (-)
There you go post up if you have any more questions.
