I'm no audiophile so I havn't a clue whats what. Does Blaupunkt have a reputation, good or bad? I saw this unit on crutchfield's site and was attracted to it by the high FM sensitivity rating since I typicly listen to the radio more then anything else. Bose system in my 91 is totaly crapped out. All four amps are shot so I don't know about the head unit but I'm gonna do the whole system anyway. http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...=1&cc=01&avf=Y
Holy crap, for $480 you can do way better, Kenwood, Alpine, or even Pioneer, I have heard mixed things about Blaupunkt, but, do what you like, it probably doesn't suck that bad
I have had Blaupunkts in a couple of cars I knew I was getting rid of when I installed them. Most were mediocre at best. I think at one point they had a great name and quality product, now they into mass commercialism and the quality has dropped.
I currently have a San Jose MP3 in a BMW 633 I am restoring, and the Alpine, (for $60 more) in my 85 blows it away.
On the Blau I have treble, bass, expanded bass(pretty useless). On the Alpine, I have individual speaker timing to improve the sound stage, bass focus, I can move bass to the speakers where it will sound the best. It has a 5 band equalizer and makes a huge difference.
Bottom line for the money you can do much better. The LA has some neat features, but it is a lot of money for a Blau.
I would look at Nakamachi, Alpine or Pioneer for better sound quality for less money.
