Well, like EatRice, I decided to go overboard on my big 3 upgrade. Thing is, I only had a couple of hours of daylight left and wanted to take my time and do it right. I ran 1/0 from the engine ground to the chassis ground, and 1/0 from the battery to the chassis ground. Haven't done the alternator to battery run yet since I was taking my time and ran out of daylight.
Initial impression: this is awesome. My car cranked up and hit 14.1 volts immediately. Turned up the audio gave the engine some revs and it actually went UP to 14.2 . Usually my stereo makes the voltage drop a bit. So it is obvious that the weakest link in the C5's electrical system is the grounding.
I will hit the alternator run tomorrow, but I wanted to know what you guys did for the alternator run. Did you REMOVE any cable or just add an extra run? I completely removed the factory ground cable that comes off the battery and connects to the chassis, but the alternator connection looks like a couple of runs are spliced together at both the battery and the alternator. I didn't want to spend time figuring that out tonight but tomorrow when the sunlight is out I'll hit it up.

Re: Big 2 Upgrade Done :D (diynoob)
I would suggest not removing any of the stock cables and just adding to them. It will be easier for you. When you do the Alt. to battery run don't forget to fuse it about halfway with an ANL fuse, and unless you remove the stock power wires you will need to run smaller gauge power wire (in other words not 1/0 gauge) since you removed the stock ground wires and put in 1/0 gauge. Remember, your ground wires should always be at least the same size or larger than your power wires. In fact, 4 gauge power wire along with the stock wires that are already there should be just fine. What kind of power is your system running? Are you running over 2000 watts?
