This has probably been out there 100 times but since search isnt working I will ask again. I have a 1990 that I want to put two 10 in subs in. Does anyone have pics of there sub box and/or dimensions to build one. I have a idea of what I want but not sure on how to go about it. Also if you have replaced your rear speakers how did you adapt the old covers to accept the new bigger speakers. :seeya
As for the sub I don't know cause I have one 10", but the rear speakers, after cutting a 6X9 hole in the bracket where the speaker goes in, there was no need to modify the covers because they slipped right over without touching. Alpine Type S's front and rear. IM me for pics if you need them.
I used the rear compartments; mounted a 10" JL Audio on the right and my PPI amp above the ABS on the left. I think with a little thicker baffle (maybe up to the level of that edge behind the seats) you could put a sub above the ABS unit also. I reinforced the cavity with 2x layers of Dynamat-type tar dampening material and it works great. That being said; one 10" sub that's 2 feet from your ear is plenty for me...
I am going to be doing a build up like these this winter, I will try and remember to take good pics of my progress. Sometimes I get excited and skip a few steps.
There are other good looking installs out there, keep hitting the former threads. You'll find 'em.
My sub setup.....but now without the red cover over it.....amps are under false floor.... Soon to be changed again...to 2 JL's insted of just 1...and revamp of the whole rear hatch area.....
