XM radio- no FM modulation
Help me with my thinking here. I want to use an Alpine XM radio, but would rather not use FM modulation because the sound quality seems poor. If I have the factory CD changer in the trunk, I can use the GM10-AUX(PIE) at the back of the radio (built in CD controls) and cycle between changer and XM.
But if I don't have pre-wired CDchanger and the radio does not have CD controls I need to use PX GM9(peripheral) and use the toggle switch to change from device to device?
Ben. I am getting ready to add the aux inputs to my vette also. I did the same thing to my avalanche last year. However I believe the vette radio is different. I believe the harness on the rear of the hu is a 20 pin and not the usual 9 pin so the pxgm9 may not work without a converter. I am waiting for my gmh20t from soundomain to convert the 20 pin to a 9 pin so I can use my gmasx to provide a toggle switch between an alpine cd changer and aux inputs. I would contact peripheral to make sure. I should know more next weekend. Tom
However I'm more interested in the conversion for an existing trunk mount cd changer style. I thought I read somewhere that one of these conversions allowed you to cycle thru from CD to XM by tapping the tape/aux button on my radio.
Soundgate makes some adapters, but I haven't looked much at them. I should have the radio out next weekend, so I can tell more, esp if the gmh20t adapter can connect to the end of the oem corvette harness in the trunk to convert it to a 9 pin. It seems most of the aux inputs are 9 pin. Let us know what you find. Tom
