I just finished my first install. I was really nervous, being that I never did this before, but it is done and it works!!!! I came in from the garage last night cheering. My wife looked at me, and said, "I hear that you got it figured out and working." It was thumping and WOW did it turn out good for my first time doing this. I'm very proud of myself for not just taking it into a shop to do it. I even made an amp rack for it. I'd like to thank this forum for putting up with all of the simple (for you guys, not for me) questions and help that I recieved. This place is THE BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!

Sharp looking amp rack. PPI amp?
:hurray:
Thanks for the props! Yes sir, it's a PPI 4125 amp. I was wondering which amp to use to run my DEI Vipers and one of Mike's sub boxes with a 12" Infinity sub in it. This one has 4x125w, so I thought that it was plenty. It sounds good to me, and it is more than loud enough, but what I really like is how much more clarity there is.
Where did you end up putting your ground? What guage power wire? How bout some more info on the amp rack.
Looks really good!
Thanks for the compliments! I ended up grounding it to my passenger side seat bolt. I just ground of the paint, and put some washers under there, so that it made a good connection. I ran 4awg wire for the amp.
I made the amp rack base (the part that the amp sits on) out of 3/4" mdf, that I routered half round edges on. The top is made out of 3/4" mdf for the sides, and 1/2" mdf for the top. I wanted to make sure that there was enough room for the amp to get some air. I then routered the whole thing with a half round bit to make it easier to wrap the black vinyl. I took my time and wrapped the vinyl, then glued/stapled it. I was going to do it in black carpet (which I still might, just so I can change the look every once in awhile), but saw the black vinyl at Walmart for $8, so that sold me. I have enough vinyl to make another rack too. So that wasn't a bad deal.

Here's some more pics. I didn't know what you guys wanted to see, so I just snapped a few more. If there is anything specific, please tell me, and I'll get them. Thanks

Thanks for the compliments guys! I'm probably gonna catch some flack for this, but I didn't mount the bottom of the rack. The amp weighs probably 30 lbs. It's also a tighter fit between the roof mounts(the roof panel still fits back there too) and the gas tank ledge. It definitely won't go anywhere during hard driving/cornering, but I don't know how well it would do in a wreck. I pray that I never find out. :yesnod:
Some guys will silicone or liquid nail some strips of wood under the carpet and screw their racks to it. It's a good idea, but I felt that it wasn't necessary for me when I picked that amp out of the box, and felt how much it weighed. It's a nice, tight fit.

Nice job. I would "Liquid Nails" the base of the rack to the car. You don't need a 40# wack in the back of the head if you have an accident. It is kinda like this, :banghead: only with more force.
