Ok here's the deal, buying a C4 from a forum member soon, he was honest and told me the head unit will not play cd's, as is common in C4s. He told me there are some refurbished units out there that will also play cd-r's and cd-rw's. Any links or info would be greatly appreciated.
I suggest replacing the whole Bose system. You can get aftermarket headunit & speakers for about the same price (or less) than the $585 for the head unit at Dr. Dons. Nothing against Dr. Dons but the reason I say this is because I replaced my head unit once only to have an amp blow on on a speaker afterwards. Now I having spent $500 on the head unit the speaker unit was going to cost me another $160 plus shipping, I have researched & can replace the head unit for less than $200 with a pioneer & speakers all around for another $250 & have a better sounding system than the original bose. Just my opinion.
PS. I have the Pioneer DEH47 in my chevy P/U truck & it has preouts for a sub too. It will fit perfectly in the vette.
DEcided to replace the whole Bose system with alpine. cda=9807 head unit, sps-100a 4" speakers, and spr-694a 6x9s. Now just gotta put it all in when i get home in march. Bought it all at www.crutchfield.com . Very easy!!!!
